Every season, PINT play Tracy Village to vie for the
Margaret Coady Cup

The annual battle was started in 2000 after the untimely death of our beloved PINTs A Grade Scorer on July 6th, 1999, upon returning home after a days play at Tracy Village Oval. Marg was held in the highest regard by all involved in Darwin cricket circles

Marg (late wife of our Club Patron Jack Coady; mother of longtime PINT player Brendan - or BC as we all know him by - & our current treasurer Denise) was the A Grade scorer & also junior scorer from the mid-80's. Marg was and still is considered one of the best, being one of the first to use wagon wheels for our local games. She also scored some of the Australian games that came to town.

Jack & Margaret have been involved in the PINT Club dating back to the early 70's. Not only has the family contributed on the field but off the field with Jack being a long time sponsor. Margaret was awarded PINT Life Membership in 1994, in recognition of her extensive contribution to the PINT Club & the wider cricketing community.

Margaret's sudden passing in 1999 was a huge shock to the whole cricketing community. An idea initiated by then club Presidents Chris Young (PINT) & Andy Hill (Tracy Village), the Cup was first contested in 2000. PINT & Tracy Village A/B/C grades compete fiercely for the honour of winning the Cup each year - with PINT taking the crown 13 out of the 18 years. Today the Cup game is still as hard fought as the first one.

Players from both PINT & Tracy Village know how important this game is to not just the Club but the family as well. They are truly thankful for the spirit the game is played in & how the players hold it in such high regard. We are sure the newcomers will take on board the importance & keep her memory going strong by playing hard this and next weekend.
